"Paine Revolver Match"
On Sunday May 23, 2010 the MRA brought back its "Paine Revolver
Match". The
match is named after Chevalier Ira Anson Paine a world-renowned
pistol
shooter and MRA member. The match was based on a series of matches
first won by Paine at the NRA's range at Creedmoor in New York and
then at
the MRA in 1886. The match was last fired at the MRA in the 1980's.
Sunday's match was shot gallery-style with .22LR revolvers with iron
sights
at 50 feet. Three targets for record and a total of 45 shots were
fired.
The Match Director was Ed George, an MRA Life Member, and two relays
fired
the match.
